What is STEAM?
S.T.E.A.M stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, ART, and Math.
I have written two grants which has allowed me to purchase technology for the art room. The students are able to integrate the use of technology such as iPads, notebooks, Cricut, laser engraver, and green screen equipment as needed. I also incorporate cross disciplines into many of the art lessons so the students can make connections between what they learn in art and what they learn in other subjects.
This page will be used to showcase the students' use of technology, problem solving, collaboration, and cross discipline projects.
2017-2018 school year all 1-5 grade students learned how to use Flipgrid. This user friendly video program allows students to share thoughts quickly and easily with each other under a given topic/prompt. We will be using this throughout the year. The students had fun creating their videos and taking their selfies!
Students who have art on E days will have a TECH day in the art room. This can involve any of the technology in the art room such as iPads, mini laptops, laser engraver, Cricut, or green screen equipment. I purchased 4 sets of Bloxels over the summer and the students were introduced to this fun, engaging video game. Students can create their own 13 pixel video game (including environment and characters) and then play in each other's creations. This gaming system allows students to use math, art, and technology all at the same time. The students loved it!

Below you will see some of the independent projects that were done using the laser engraver. Third and fourth grade students were really engaged and motivated to teach each other how to properly use the equipment. I can't wait to see what they come up with next year!
